Meet Our Crew
Our Instructor, Zach Byers, grew up right here in Rutherfordton, NC. He has carried his passion for flying and adventure from a very young age. Zach is a CFI and CFI-I in both single-engine airplanes and helicopters. He has his Multi-Engine commercial license as well. He also likes to put his photography skills to work in the air. Come see him for all of your flight training needs.
Taylor Dalton was raised on a grass strip airport south of Greenville, SC, and is a third-generation pilot. Growing up Taylor was taught by his father, grandfather, and uncle to fly taildraggers that his grandparents had restored. He is very fortunate to have time in Piper Cubs, Aeronca Champs, Fairchilds, A Tiger Moth, Globe Swifts, and over 50 different aircraft. After high school, Taylor joined the Air Force as an Aircraft Structural Mechanic. He spent a total of 10 years in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve eventually receiving an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Air Force Reserves Taylor earned a B.S. in Accounting from Coastal Carolina University and an M.B.A from Western Carolina University. Taylor earned a Private Pilot Certificate and Tailwheel Endorsement in 2006. He spent the next two decades flying his family’s taildraggers “around the patch.” In 2021, encouraged by his wife Marlee to pursue a career in aviation, he earned an Instrument rating followed by a Commercial Certificate and Muli-Engine Commercial. In 2022, he became a Certified Flight Instructor and Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument.
